Christian de Vietri is an Australian-born and New York-based artist working in sculpture. Employing 3D animation and digital design, he engages recognizable icons, shared mythology and common imagery as a way to think about meeting space in the collective imaginary. De Vietri’s work has been exhibited internationally at Art Basel Miami, the Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane, the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney, and at the former Deitch Projects.

Christian de Vietri, The Gathering, 2009, aluminum, 70” x 48” x 48”. Commissioned by the Public Art Fund, New York.

Founded by artists in 1928, SculptureCenter is a not-for-profit arts institution located in Long Island City, NY. We commission new work and present exhibits by emerging and established artists from New York and around the world. Our Tumblr site focuses on emerging artists and work that offers new ways of considering sculpture, or furthers the understanding of the discipline and how it can intersect with other mediums. Content is selected by SculptureCenter’s curatorial staff and guest curators.
