Drawn to discarded materials imbued with a certain history, New York-based artist Emily Henretta constructs sculptural installations that are neither entirely of the past or of the future. Henretta recently received her MFA from Columbia University, as well as the Toby Award, Leroy Neiman Fellowship in Printmaking, and the Emily Fisher Landau Fellowship.

Emily Henretta, Polarization Layers, Model #1 (detail), 2011, monitor parts, plaster, paper, cement, acrylic, bark, aluminum, and magnets, 5’ x 3’ x 7’.
