Working primarily with sculpture, video, installation and photography, Molly Lowe speaks to the absurdity, awkwardness and conflict of living in a human body. Grounded in the art of disguise, Lowe creates uncanny alter-realities and costumes that imbue the everyday with a mythological sense of importance. She has held residencies with Tropical Lab in Singapore, Skowhegan School in Maine, Elsewhere in North Carolina and HMK in the Netherlands. Lowe lives and works in New York. She currently participates in SculptureCenter’s 2012-2013 In Practice program, culminating in an exhibition of new work. Double Life opens at SculptureCenter on January 13, 5-7PM and runs through March 25.
